This section should serve as a tutorial to better understand and use the Digital Dailies. Before we explain the interface, there are two important things to know: Posts and Threads. Posts are messages created by a member of the Fathom Studios staff. Threads are a group of posts responding or related to the topic of the original post. For example, if I made a post that read “My mother makes great cookies and she is going to bake some tomorrow. Does anyone want some?”, I might see several other posts in response to mine from people who read my post and want some cookies. All of these posts would be grouped with the original post in a single thread. If there were no responses to my post, it would serve as its own thread. So, a thread can be a single post.

Message Post Components:

  3. File Attachments - if movies or images are appended to a post, their name will appear here and must be clicked to view; movies require the Divx codec for playback which can be downloaded for free for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux
  4. Subject - the name of the post
  5. Contents - the message of the post; this is sometimes blank if a file is a attached and a message is not required

Search Protocols:

  1. Date Search - find a message based on how recently it was posted
  2. Keyword Search - find a message by searching the text of the subject, message content, and file name fields
